The East Race, South
Bend July 13, 2003
What a gorgeous day to be
outside. Apparently a couple of hundred others felt the same way and we
had a great time in the park. We saw Kay and Randy for the first
time in a while, along with some other familiar faces. Even
"Big Dog" and Deborah showed up, although he didn't bring me any
B.B.Q. The highlight might have been the kayakers doing a
synchronized paddle dance to "Proud Mary" (Rolling on the
River). Or maybe Larry putting on that protective head gear.
The way we do it, sometimes Rock and roll is a contact sport. The
band did the wayne Newton thing when Jr. stepped out front to lead the
singing and I butchered the drums while Jan held my guitar. Lucky
thing it was a free show. I would have hated to think people paid to
see that. Thanks to Sue Anne and the South Bend Parks Dept for
having us back. See you again next year.

A little Bing Crosby, a little Elvis........ |
And the train wreck he left onstage |

Do I need to even comment on this one? |
This puts it in context, but still.... |
Another 15 or 20 years, they'll be paying a cover
charge to do this |
