May 29th, 2004 at the Riverfront Cafe in Niles, Michigan How much fun should we be allowed to have and still get paid for it? I don't know but we were dangerously close to that threshold Saturday night. After agonizing over whether to set up inside or outside, we chose the patio, and it's a good thing we did. The place was packed and, to quote George Thoroughgood, "everyone was grinnin', greased, and gassed!" Standing room only and a full dance floor all night! We were joined by a couple of members of American pie. Callahan, an amazing fiddle player, and her father and lead singer, Tom Miller, tore the house down with an eagle's tune. Hope they'll sit in again soon. And I hope we'll get the opportunity to visit the riverfront again. (By the way, great martini bar there, if you've never been.) Thanks to the riverfront, the weather, and all the folks who came out to see us. Next stop: the landing on June 19th. Be there! |
